Summer Foreign Language and Area Studies (FLAS) Fellowship
The Summer 2023 Foreign Language & Area Studies Fellowship (FLAS) provides eligible students with up to $3,500 stipend and $5,000 in tuition during the Summer 2023 semester for funding intermediate and/or intensive study of Albanian, Armenian, Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian (BCS), Kazakh, Macedonian, Persian, Polish, Romanian, Russian, Tatar, Turkish, Ukrainian, or Uzbek domestically or abroad.
Application Requirements

Applicants must be a U.S. Citizen, National, or Permanent Resident.

Applicants must submit their FAFSA for the 2022-2023 academic year and provide a copy of their Financial Aid Award Letter.

Applicant must be eligible to receive an Arizona State University tuition scholarship.

Applicants must be prepared to enroll in one of the following languages for the summer semester: Albanian, Armenian, Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian (BCS), Kazakh, Macedonian, Persian, Polish, Romanian, Russian, Tatar, Turkish, Ukrainian, or Uzbek.

Undergraduates may only study at the intermediate or advanced level. Graduate students are eligible for beginner study provided they already possess advanced proficiency in another language related to their field.

Applicants must have a 3.0 minimum GPA and a demonstrated interest in Central and/or Eastern Europe.

Applicants with less than a 3.0 GPA are encouraged to apply and address their GPA in the Statement of Purpose.
