On July 14, 2024, the Melikian Center experienced a profound loss as its namesake and leading figure, Gregory Melikian, passed away peacefully. Greg was honored with the title of Chevalier (Knight) in the French Legion of Honor and has received prestigious accolades including the Ellis Island Medal of Honor, ASU’s Medal of Excellence, and the title of Philanthropist of the Year. His departure marks the end of an era for the Center, which has long been inspired by his vision and dedication for critical languages and the world as a whole.
