Discussion of "Sustainable Development and Education for Sustainability in Kosovo - Where Does it Stand?" by Zeqir Veselaj.

The paper for discussion will be distributed to attendees for review in preparation for the discussion.

Currently a Fulbright Scholar at ASU working with Dr. Iveta Silova in the Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College, Zeqir Veselaj has a background in natural and environmental sciences and holds a PhD degree in biology. In Kosovo, Dr. Veselaj is a full-time professor of natural sciences and environmental education at the University of Prishtina, where he also serves as a member of the Steering Board. He has more than fifteen years of experience working with the main environmental institutions in Kosovo. Veselaj has worked on the preparation of the country's main environmental policy documents, and, as a member of governmental working groups, he has also been part of drafting a majority of the environmental laws in Kosovo. For eight years, he served as the Kosovo Country Office Director of the Regional Environmental Center for Central and Eastern Europe, an international environmental organization established by the US, European Commission, and Hungary.

In 2006, Dr. Veselaj joined the Faculty of Education of University of Prishtina. He has extensive knowledge of international environmental law and the EU environmental legislation and policy. He is author of two university books on environmental management, and many publications in the field of the environment and environmental education. He is the author of the chapter, “Environment,” in the book, Kosovo, published by the Kosovo Academy of Sciences and Arts.
