Boris Akunin's play Hamlet. A Version, published by Europress, is being staged in New York April 21-May 7, 2017. Prof. Ileana Orlich translated the text from Russian into English and Romanian.
The gathering is to celebrate the staging of the translation and to hear about the efforts that went into this accomplishment.
Ileana Orlich is President’s Professor of Romanian Studies and Comparative Literature in the School of International Letters and Cultures, Head of the German, Romanian, and Slavic Faculty and Director of the Romanian and Central European Summer Study Program at Arizona State University. She is also an ASU Melikian Center Affiliate. Her publications comprise over 10 monographs, more than 20 book translations with critical commentaries, numerous book chapters and over 100 refereed articles. At the April 17 event, she will talk about her translation of Boris Akunin’s Hamlet. A Version from Russian into English and Romanian and the staging of the translated play in the Theatre at St. Clement’s in Manhattan.
