Achieving Excellence: A Strategic Research Plan for the Social Sciences in Georgia 2010-2011

Through a combination of a semester-long scholars-in-residence at ASU, online and in-country trainings in Georgia, and an interactive web interface, four areas of professional training are addressed: i) enhancing the analytical capacity of Georgian scholars through training courses focused on research skills; ii) initiating a series of collaborative research projects between Georgian and American scholars geared to publication in peer-reviewed journals; iii) employing individualized action planning among participating scholars for addressing research and curricular reform; and iv) developing a professional network of Georgian scholars to carry forward the project’s academic objectives. The thirty-some primary project beneficiaries are doctoral students and assistant professors at Ilia, Gori, Telavi, and Batumi Shota Rustaveli State Universities.
