CLI 2022 Updates

Our next Zoom infosession will be on Thursday, November 4th at 4:30pm MST / 7:30pm EDT. Join us here: https://asu.zoom.us/j/9377763872

We are currently in the early stages of planning for CLI 2022! We will offer intensive summer language training, with programs spanning from late May to mid-August, in 13 less commonly taught languages. We hope to welcome CLI faculty and students back to ASU's Tempe campus and to send CLI students to our 9 study-abroad locations. As our planning progresses, we will continue to update this page. Please join our CLI 2022 update list to be notified of our program decisions!

For the past two years, CLI has offered nearly all of our language programs online to ensure that our students and faculty from around the world could work together safely. Over 300 students took part in these online courses, which featured skilled and experienced faculty, small class sizes, and individualized instruction. Many of these students told us that they hoped CLI will continue to offer online options for our intensive summer language programs. As we plan for CLI 2022, we do so with this in mind.

If, as we hope, CLI 2022 is held in person on ASU's Tempe campus and in our overseas locations, we will operate in a manner consistent with ASU's coronavirus policies. Current ASU policy on face coverings mandates their use in certain indoor spaces, specifically including classrooms and meeting rooms, where social distancing may not be possible.

The CLI 2022 application, as well as CLI Title VIII and Melikian Center Awards Program (MCAP) funding applications is now open. The deadline for CLI Title VIII and MCAP funding applications is January 24, 2022. The Project GO scholarship application is also open now and the deadline is January 12, 2022. We will look to make scholarship awards in mid-February. Applicants who submit their applications by January 24, 2022 will be notified of admissions decisions in mid-February; those who submit after that date will be notified on a rolling basis thereafter.

Thanks to ASU institutional support, CLI does not charge tuition (in-state or out-of-state) for its credit-bearing courses. Instead, we charge a flat administrative fee of $1,500 for all of our languages. Please note that additional fees apply for our study-abroad programs. For information on CLI 2022 program dates and estimated costs, please visit the individual language pages. Please note that we are working to keep these updated with the most accurate information we have available.
