Religious Studies in a Global University Curriculum for the 21st Century

"Religious Studies in a Global University Curriculum for the 21st Century " was a three-year educational partnership between ASU and the University of Sarajevo, goal of which was to encourage academic exchange and curricular development in religious studies.

Launched with a symposium in Sarajevo in March 2005, the educational partnership laid the foundation for the development of a master’s degree in comparative religious studies at the University of Sarajevo Center for Interdisciplinary Postgraduate Studies. In preparation for the launching of that program the partnership supported 7 fellows from Bosnia and Herzegovina (Amel Alić, Nedžad Grabus, Amra Pandžo-Đurić, Sead Fetahagić, Entoni Šeperić, Vuk Miljanović, Zilka Spahić-Šiljak) in a semester in residence at the Arizona State University Department of Religious Studies and the ASU Center for the Study of Religion and Conflict. Participants used their time to develop curricular materials for the new master’s program. In the final part of the program, ASU religious studies professors participate in reciprocal team-taught seminars at CIPS.
