Christine Ruane (Ph.D., University of California, Berkeley) is a professor in the Department of History at the University of Tulsa. She is the author of The Empire’s New Clothes (winner of the Barbara Heldt Prize) and Gender, Class, and the Professionalization of Russian City Teachers. Ruane’s intellectual interests center around modern Russian and European History. She is a co-editor of Russian Studies in History. Among others, Ruane teaches courses on Imperial Russian History, Russian Social History, European Women’s History, and Gender in History.
