Cars for Comrades

Lewis Siegelbaum received his B.A. from Columbia University and his D. Phil. from Oxford University (St. Antony’s College). He is a professor in the Department of History at Michigan State University. In 2006, he received the Multimedia Educational Resource for Learning and Online Teaching Award for Exemplary Online Learning Resources for “Seventeen Moments in Soviet History” (www.soviethistory.org) with James von Geldern. His most recent works include Borders of Socialism: Private Spheres of Soviet Russia, edited collection (Palgrave Press, 2006) and Cars for Comrades: The Life of the Soviet Automobile (Cornell University Press, 2008).
